How do any of us do it, Reader? This is a discussion I have regularly with friends, colleagues, and clients. We are all doing lots of things. We are working, running businesses, navigating relationships, trying to show up for family members, and some of us are managing health conditions. It's a lot. People often ask me how I do all the things and cancer. The answer is uncomplicated for me... ✨I make a decision✨ Chatting with a client in Asia last night, she reminded me so much of myself before I learned that every single day, I can choose to take back control of my power. I no longer give away my energy to rushing, over working, emotional reactivity, and control behaviours. Yes, there are feelings to process. Yes, there are frustrations to work through. And yes, there are times when I just can't in a day, and I numb out with Netflix. But, I choose my path. I choose healing practices. I choose to sit with frustration until I figure out why. And, I choose Netflix when that's all that's left. I also CHOOSE to honour exactly what I need on any given day, and not feel guilty about it. So, Reader, that's how I do all the things. ✨And, that's how clients learn self compassion which resolves guilt, obligation, and compulsion✨ You don't have to DO more to feel good about yourself, in fact you will benefit from doing LESS. 🌱Take back control of your brain. 🌱Allow it to run in the conscious, rather than the subconscious. 🌱Choose you, every time. 🌱Ask yourself that question out loud. "What do I need right now?" 🌱Then, listen, so you can make a conscious decision that is connected to your mind, body, and energy. Have you had enough of things being the same yet?
