The toothbrush vibrator😬

You know when life gives you lemons… and it turns out they vibrate at 30,000 strokes per minute?

Let me explain, ReaderšŸ˜‰

My trusty old electric toothbrush (a gift from my bestie 9 years ago) finally gave up the ghost. I was loyal. I was attached. I even felt a bit emotional about letting it go (yes, I’m that person).

So hubby, in a sweet act of kindness, surprised me with a new one. Beautiful. Generous. Thoughtful.

Except… this new toothbrush is not messing around.

I swear, the first time I used it, I thought I’d accidentally picked up something from my bottom drawer, if you know what I mean. There I was, just trying to brush my teeth, and suddenly I’m in a full-body sensory experience that would make Christian Grey blush!

I had to back off and go in gently. Build up to it. I just tickled my teeth with the "Phillips Supersonic" so my gums could get to know the thing before it pulverised them into oblivion.

And it got me thinking (as most things do)… this is exactly how our nervous system and brain work when something new or unexpected happens.

šŸ”¹ First, our senses go ā€œWHAT IS THIS?ā€
šŸ”¹ Then the brain scrambles to assign meaning to the experience and work out if we’re safe.
šŸ”¹ Once that’s clear (is there a lion after you, or just a pussy cat), it sends messages to the body so we can respond appropriately—like bracing yourself for the next oral assaultšŸ˜… (That is not meant to sound as bad as it does! Get your mind out of the gutter, Reader!

It’s actually how we learn to adapt—to toothbrushes, to change, to healing, to new ways of thinking, feeling, and being.

At first, it seems a bit out there. Then, with repetition and a bit of patience, the nervous system recalibrates.

It softens. It stops freaking out.

And before you know it, it becomes the new normal.

(I'm still in the adapting phase of bracing myself every time I switch this monster on!!)

This is also what happens in therapy and energy healing.

At first, it can feel unfamiliar or even intense.

But your body and brain are smart. They adjust.

The goal posts move as you increase the capacity of your nervous system.

You begin to feel safer, calmer, and more in control of how you react to life.

So if you’re feeling a bit like life is a vibrating toothbrush right now—too much, too fast, too intense—let’s slow things down.

✨ Book a Reiki or counselling session with me and let’s help your system adapt gently, safely, and in a way that feels really, really good (not that kind of good, you saucy minx - actually, on second thought, go for it!).

šŸ’œ Local ladies — the next in-person clinic is Saturday 17th May and spots book out fast. So if you want one, grab it now before they’re all gone.

Are you part of the large group of people who have developed notification anxiety, Reader? Even further to that, there is a new term floating around called "Nomophobia" which describes the anxiety that comes from being without one's phone. But for one sec, let's go back to the little red dots all over our phone apps. It's a common thing now that phone users feel the urge to clear their notifications so the red dots disappear. They constantly check their phones as soon as they ping, and can't...

It’s INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS! 🩷🄰🄳 How happy do you feel today? On a scale of 0 - 10, where do you sit? Being real with yourself helps you understand where you're at on the tangible scale of true happiness. I've learned through my healing adventure that happiness isn’t something that just happens—it’s something we choose. šŸ’šŸ¼ā™€ļøIt’s not about perfect circumstances, or waiting for life to finally slow down (because let’s be honest, it won’t). šŸ’šŸ¼ā™€ļøIt’s about deciding, every day, to do the...

I've got all the words today, Reader, about having no words. Before I get into it, I want to take a second to say, "Hi!"šŸ™‹šŸ¼ā™€ļøto all the fabulous new people who have become part of my online family. Welcome to the fold, and the chatsšŸ˜‰ Those of you who work with me or know me well, you know I'm never short of words. Phil often says to me, "Have you got your 40,000 words out today?" when I bombard him with all the events of my day. For the last few weeks it's been a busy time, in many wonderful...
